Crowdsourcing

Add caption
Plugshare is just one example of people using their own information and sharing it with others. Plugshare is an application on the Iphone and other smart phones were people can share information about where places to charge their smart cars are. The idea is that people can share where they know they can charge or even there own personal charge stations so that people wanting to invest in cars that are battery powered can feel more at ease knowing that there are places to charge there car in case of emergencies.
This is just one type of crowdsourcing. I think that this is a trend that more and more are starting to follow. I feel that people are seeing the good that new new media is capable of. As more and more become aware I Think there will be more sharing. And not just sharing common knowledge but like Plug share there will be people sharing on the internet on a more personal level and that there will be a trust that is built. If there is not then there will be no furthering this type of new new media.

  1. As we talked about in class, this is an interesting concept--it crosses that boundary of relative anonymity, of just being a "virtual" person online, and puts you in the physical world as well where actual physical meeting is involved (as well as possibly making yourself vulnerable). I can see it related to other ways that people transform relationships from purely online ones to real face-to-face ones, ranging from online dating to the Meetup kinds of gatherings that Cara talked about.
